THE ONLY THING

Walking out alone at night,
Looking up at the clear sky,
I wonder ‘bout the reason why,
Why the stars shine so bright,
Like there’s a secret they hide,
Under the twinkle of their light.

Why the only thing you want,
Is the one that you can’t have,
Why the only thing you need,
Is too far out of your reach,
Why the only thing you feel,
Is too far from something real.

Walking out alone at night,
Under the flickering streetlight.
Why am I searching for a face,
Piece of a puzzle out of place,
Like a tangled one way maze,
Leading to the end of the day.

Why the only thing you want,
Is the one that you can’t have,
Why the only thing you need,
Is too far out of your reach,
Why the only thing you feel,
Is too far from something real.

Sometimes I wonder,
When the first roar of thunder,
Wakes me up from my slumber,
Why don’t I feel the rain,
Why does it pain,
To be someone else.

Why the only thing you want,
Is the one that you can’t have,
Why the only thing you need,
Is too far out of your reach,
Why the only thing you feel,
Is too far from something real.
